Message from the Trustees

In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful.

As salaam alaikum,

Shropshire Islamic Foundation has been a registered Charity since June of 2005 with our headquarters at our new site in King Street, Wellington. We are governed by a Trust Deed.

Our roots were formed many years ago by the local community from the time when our current mosque at Tan Bank, a Methodist church, was acquired in the late 1960s. Over the years the population has grown and with this growth our facilities became insufficient to meet ever increasing needs, including lack of space for ladies. We acquired a former MoD complex and began work to build a much larger, and ambitious mosque and community hub.

We are currently at a stage where phase 1 of the new mosque at King Street in Wellington is nearing completion - Inshallah by end of November 2018. Accommodating over 1000 male and females in purpose-built accommodation, the centre will also be host to the Telford Islamic Academy - an after-school madrassa for boys and girls. Our vision will allow our local community and others to come and pray, learn and socialise with each other. This centre will facilitate the importance of community cohesion, understanding and education - hallmarks of the earliest mosques in Islam. It will serve as a place where Muslims can practice their religion freely and yet allow for a calm environment for continued learning and personal development.

Phase 1 has one floor, comprising ladies and gent’s prayer halls, toilets and washrooms, several administration and multi-usage rooms.  Two other buildings on the site will host the girl’s madrassa as well as community facilities for learning, events, da’wah work and much more.

This is our vision at Shropshire Islamic Foundation and for this to be realised we need your help and support. We would be extremely grateful for any donation you may be able to offer but we urgently need £30-40K before end of November to complete phase 1.

Jazakallah khair
